The lake dropped to 89 percent of storage capacity, and water temperatures were in the low sixties. Bass anglers had to work harder for bites and found willing fish deeper with slow finesse presentations. Drop-shots, Ned rigs, and similar baits fished very slowly boated bass, and darker colors were the way to go. A few crankbait fish were reported. Striped bass anglers continued to see some topwater action, but the steady bite came from trolling A-rigs in 25 to 50 feet over main lake points. After trout are planted large swimbaits are the way to go for monster striped bass, and a massive 41 pounder was reported last week. Catfish remained reliable on cut baits and chicken liver.
