The bass and the catfish bite was excellent this week as many fishermen caught limits. Billy Kane of Palmdale caught his limit of smallies and largies in a couple of hours off of launch point. an oxblood roboworm on a texas rig did the trick for him. Other anglers did well drop shotting Gulp minnows and pumpkin worms. The catfish hit hard throughout the day for shore fishermen and boaters alike off nightcrawlers and stink baits including mackerel, bloody dough and chicken liver. The shallow areas of Johnson Bay, Santa Cruz Bay, Drake cove, and Harvey's all held cats ranging ranging from half a pound to 9 lbs. The carp bow fishermen had great success in all mornings and evenings with the biggest one upwards of 12 lbs. Despite the warm weather, one kayaker was able to hook up on a 2 lb trout as well.
