Back and fourth between big halibut counts to white seabass counts. The first few days of July saw some of the best halibut counts ever recorded, and towards the end the seabass made a come back. Both overnight boats, Pacific Eagle and Pacific Dawn came back with good scores on Sunday. Island Spirit also had good fishing today catching limits of calico bass and rockfish before 11am. Pictured here is Mike Kazan with his 50lb white seabass on the Pacific Eagle.
The weather has been outstanding for all the trips! Warm and somewhat humid days are upon us.. July is here in full force!
3/4 DAY & FULL DAY TACKLE: local islands or coastal fishing. Bring a lite rod/reel combo that you can cast with 12-20lb line. Also bring a medium rod/reel combo with 25-30lb line. Torpedo sinkers ranging from 6oz to 12oz and maybe some sliding sinkers from 1/4oz to 3/4oz. Hooks, bring some 1/0 live bait style for casting an anchovy and 4/0-5/0 cirlcle hooks for the live squid. Barracuda and yellowtail love the iron, so bring a couple casting jigs in your favorit colors!
OVERNIGHT TACKLE: Outer island trips you want to bring a medium rod/reel combo with 25-30lb line and a medium-heavy rod/reel combo with 40lb line. Torpedo sinkers ranging from 8oz to 16oz are being used daily. Hook size will depend on the brand, but size 4/0 through 6/0 is most brands will do the job.
REMEMBER: no ice chest's or coolers allowed on any boat. We simply dont have enough room for them. No outside alcohalic beverages are permitted, they must be purchased on board in the galley (photo i.d. required). Fishing licenses, rods, terminal tackle, food or gratuity are NOT included in your ticket price.
