This year on our annual SFR Crew Family Charter we chose to board the Aquarius out of Malibu Pier Sportfishing. The water conditions were beautiful and so was the coast. Eleven anglers hopped on board and we shoved off the Pier for some excellent Calico fishing!

SFR Web Master Chad Woods and Brother Keith Woods brought six fish hungry young men to meet up with Chris, Alicia and myself for a great day out on the water with Family and Friends! The fantastic crew of the Aquarius loaded up the bait tanks and put us on the action. The Calico Bass were on the chew and even the Cudas came to play for a wide open afternoon bite! My boy Chris Wolf spent his first ocean fishing experience by pulling up a 30lb. Flatty on a "noodle" rod! He was fly-lining a hearty sardine and at first glance he looked like he was pulling the cork from the bottom of the ocean on my Shimano Clarus 15lb. setup. Approximately 8 minutes later he brings to gaff one of the nicest Barn Doors I've seen! Way to go Kid, not bad for your first ocean fish! Needless to say, another angler enters the family with an addiction to a bent rod!

Chad spent most of the day slaying ???em and handing off fresh ones to his nephews. We all had a great time and appreciated the Crew's efforts to make sure we enjoyed our day. If you haven't experienced the Aquarius, you're really missing out, these guys are phenomenal! Only a three minute boat ride to get to where you want to be! Give them a shot today and tell them sportfishingreport.com sent you! (310) 456-8031

The official SFR fish count was 11 Anglers: 55 Rockfish, 1 Halibut, 60 Calico Bass, 25 Barracuda.

Tight Lines,
