Catfish bit well last week as several limits were checked in at the marina last week. Johnson's Bay was the hot sport,as well as Martini Bay, the Narrows and just about any shallow cove. All held Kitties to 6 lbs. Cut mackerel, shrimp and packaged dough baits were all productive.

Trout made a decent showing despite the tripe digit air temps. Shore anglers had some nice catches off of E Point and Harveys. Anglers who chose to drift while fishing at 30 to 50 ft. near the dam also did well.

There were some Crappie in Santa Cruz Bay, but not in any numbers. The slabs that were taken reacted to trolling CD 3 Rapalas.

Bass fishing is still tough. What little action there is is best when using a top water bait either early in the AM or later in the day. The water temperatures have the fish scattered from the surface to 30' in the water column. Bow fishing has been on hold for the most part, there are limited opportunities around dusk and dawn.

Both Largemouth and Smallmouth have developed a case of lock jaw. Live nightcrawlers seem to be the only thing that works. There have been quite a...... Read More
