The water temperature has been between 51 and 55 degrees. The water level has not changed this week, there has not been any flow at the inlet. Cold temperatures and seasonal changes have affected the metabolism of the fish. This means that the fish are feeding less and take smaller bites.

Trout can be found at the south shore or east of ramp 2. The best bait for the trout have been small brown or red Power Worms, garlic flavored yellow or rainbow PowerBait and the Thomas Buoyant lure. Nightcrawlers are working well down by the East Bay.

Some striped bass were caught with spoons at about 50 feet in the water column. Try trolling plastics, you just might get lucky on a big one.

Largemouth bass have been have been cruising the banks tight to the reeds. The has been little bass action and the largies have been a tough bite. If you target the bass, try jig head or drop shots. The best colors have been orange, red or brown. Use smaller bait with these cold temperatures.

Catfish are hitting on sardines or mackerel in deep water this week. We have seen some good catches for the kitties come in. Bluegills are still in deep water or around points at depths of 10 to 12 feet. The best bait have been crickets, nightcrawlers or mealworms.

The next trout plant will be on February 1, 2013.
