Ronson "Catmando" Smothers of Los Angeles strained to lift the monster 47-pound, 8-ounce blue catfish he caught at Irvine Lake this week on a chunk of mackerel. Smothers also caught a smaller 32-6 specimen on the same day, and both of the big whiskerfish were released back into the lake.

Lake Oroville Tournament The largest locally-run bass tournament of the year on Lake Oroville is the "Sharon Hibdon Memorial Tournament", named for the longtime Chico Bass Club secretary who recently passed away.
