21,500lbs of rainbow trout have been stocked since Nov 16th
2,000lbs of trout will be stocked on Tuesday January 3rd
More trout stocked per acre than ANY other lake in O.C!
Weekly and bi weekly stockings have made for fantastic action for shore anglers, boats and float tubers. Inflated night crawlers dipped in garlic scent working well. Power Bait in white and Chartruse also working well for bait fisherman. Bait fisherman are using short leaders with the majority of fish coming from shallow water. Orange, Chartreuse and White trout worms, jigs and crank baits working well for those throwing artificials Fly fisherman continue to hammer fish in the flats using bead head midges in black and red patterns. Water temp is currently 54 degrees with 6 - 8' visability. Cold water temps along with warm weather have forced the fish to the bottom of the lake. Trout bite has been best the first 4 hours of the day.
Big Trout of the week: goes to Jeff Weaver of Riverside, in the photo above with a 12 lb 10oz trout that was caught on a green Power worm in the flats off a float tube. Tony Polanco of Carson weighed in a 12 lb trout soaking a white power mouse off the shoreline in Zone 2. Salvador Juarez of Lake Forest nailed a 11 lb 09 oz trout dead sticking a green power mouse dipped in Bite On garlic scent off the shoreline in Zone 1. Glen Matsushita continues to tear the double digit trout with yet another 11 lb beauty throwing a green and gold crank bait in the flats off a boat. Larry Cable of Mission Viejo had his line in the water for 2 minutes when a 10 lb 02 oz trout ate his white power bait in Zone 2. Ray Palafox of Burbank weighed in a 7lb 06oz trout soaking a natural color power worm topped off with a red salmon egg off the shoreline in Zone 1. Paul Matsushima of Cerritos topped off his 5 fish limit with a 7lb trout caught on a green/orange power mouse in the flats off a boat. 11 trout in the 4lb to 6lb were also weighed in at the scales last week.
