The best bait for the "hot fishing" were jigs, texas rigs, cranks and blades. The best spots were anywhere from the back of the narrows to Santa Cruz Bay has been producing and the big fish are holding from 10' to 30' in the water column.

Crappie have also been on the chew, and trolling small spinners in the narrows was the best way to go.

Trout fishing has been spotty, but there is a 4,000 lb. plant from the Calavaras fish hatchery scheduled for Tuesday, December 13th which should kick the trout bite into high gear. There were a few catfish checked in at the launch, but details were unavailable. Carp have been down too deep to shoot, but should begin feeding on the surface soon. Redear and Bluegill were both no shows.

Both smallmouth and largemouth were taking texas rigs, spinnerbaits, drop shot, jigs and small swimbaits. ...... Read More
