Bass fishing has been a hit or miss proposition this past week, and the bass were caught with a wide variety of baits and techniques. Jigs, spoons, cranks, top waters, and plastics all took a mixture of both smallmouth and largemouth bass. Bait is all over the lake, but not on the surface as of yet.
Catfish are still taking fly lined baits in Cachuma Bay, Sweetwater Bay and Clark Canyon. Crappie made a decent showing in the Narrows, with mini jigs and small spinners working on the panfish. Bluegill still around any structure in the backs of cuts and coves all over the lake. There were a few Redear reported around the back of Arrowhead Island, trout worms and red worms were the top choices for baits. Trout fishing has all but ground to a stop, as has the bow fishing for carp.

Bass fishing has been inconsistent, but the cooling temps brought the largies up tight to the shoreline cover in the early AM, and were later found suspended around the...... Read More
