Lake Elevation: 1740
Surface water temp : 70 - 75 degrees
Fish Plants: Rainbow trout, 2,400 pounds May 17th.
Lake Hours: 5:30am-7:00pm
Weather:??Temperatures have been in the 90's with strong winds in the afternoon.

Bass: ??Bass fishing improved for DVL anglers this week, 1-2 pound bass have been prevalent in the backs of coves and along the dams as well as a few larger fish being picked up off the points. Most catches have been between 10 and 25 feet. For those seeking a larger catch, fishing deeper has been effective. The most effective bait has been live shad. DFG permits the use of one scoop of live shad from a regulation dip net. The shad have been packed thick in the backs of coves all over the lake. Dipping shad can be difficult, so the use of shad replica lures is highly advised. When fishing in a bait school try your best to match the size and color of the bait. Flukes, Suspending Jerk Baits, Lipless Cranks, and Tailspins have been great baits for fishing bait schools. The most reported soft baits for bass have been Yamamoto Senkos and Ikas in watermelon or green pumpkin as well as Carolina or Drop Shot rigged plastics 4-6" with purple, green, or shad pattern being the most reported colors.

Rawson Cove has been the most reported bass cove this week, with the third cove of the shoreline fishing area, the rock quarry, the west dam, and around the saddle dam also producing well. Shoreline anglers have had consistent catches, but with less success than the boat anglers.

Dean Gunt of Norco got a his two biggest bass at 4 pound fishing with live shad on the east dam. Tinaya Maciel of Hemet released 7 largemouth bass with her biggest at 7. She also landed a 4 pound smallmouth. She was fishing near restroom 3 with live shad. 10 year old Jacob Araujo got a 2.11 pound smallmouth while trolling the largest mid- lake point. He pulled the smally from 50 feet with a "Bigmouth" crankbait.

Trout: There has been a consistent trout bite at DVL. Boaters have done considerably better than shore anglers. Trout have been spread throughout the water column. Reports have trout being caught from 20 - 40 feet, either by trolling spoons or cranks, or drifting night crawlers or live shad. Hot lures for trolling are Needlefish, Kastmasters, Team Diawa minnow lures, and shad pattern Rapalas. The west dam, east dam, and the rock quarry.??Jesse Dinkins of Hemet got five trout close to 2 pounds each trolling between 25 and 45 feet on the west dam and near the rock quarry with Rapalas. Jim Kidder of Torrance got a 6.21 pound trout while trolling near restroom 2 at 50 feet with a cop car Needlefish. Jerry Griffin of Hemet got a 7.86 pound trout. He was trolling mid lake at 40 feet with a Mepps lure. Nubo Watanabe got a 7.89 pound trout on the west dam. He was drifting night crawlers on the west dam.

Striper: There have been striper sightings, but no reported catches. Striper fishing seems to be at its best early in the morning, in the late afternoon, or on overcast days. Fishing near the inlet tower is advised for those seeking striper. Trout swim baits, Plugs or stickbaits have been the most reported lures for striper.

Catfish: Damon Hanson of Brea got a 7.18 pound catfish. He was fishing with shrimp at 40 feet along the wave attenuator.

Panfish: There were massive amounts of crappie and blue gill catches this week. The east dam, the rock quarry, and the wave attenuator have been the most reported spots.
