Bass fishing has been good early and late with top waters, blades and jerkbait all working. Shad have been spotted up tight in Dead Horse Canyon and Cachuma Creek, so if you're into dipping shad, come on up. Trolling for trout was hit or miss, but trolling lead core 4 to 5 colors with dodger/crawler combos was the most effective, although shore fishing in the Mohawk area with inflated worms resulted in some nice catches of hold-over rainbows. Crappie are starting to come around in the narrows and Santa Cruz Bay. White or black crappie jigs tipped with a crawler or a crappie nibble accounting for the most activity. Still no Bluegill, Redear, or Catfish in the mix as of yet. Bow fishing for carp has been good with double digit numbers and fish to 17.5 lb. have been reported.

Trolling lead core 3 to 4 colors anywhere from the...... Read More

Fly-lined plastics, spinnerbaits, and drop-shot rigs have all been working well on bass averaging 1.5 to 2 lbs. Trout are still being caught on the surface, trolling rapalas, and other minnow imitations. There seemed to be no spot better than another as rainbows have been taken from the narrows, all the way to the dam. The fluctuating water temps have the...... Read More
