Three trout plants last week and the final plant of Lightning Trout for the season this week mean Corona Lake anglers will continue to see limit-style trout fishing, along with a pretty good bite on crappie, bass, and even catfish as the weather continues to warm this spring.

There will be 24-hour fishing this Friday and Saturday night at Corona Lake timed to be held the weekend nearest the full moon. Corona Lake will receive its first plant of the new, giant, full-finned trophy rainbows from 10 to 12 pounds called Big Bad Reds April 21 and 22. These are expected to be the hardest-fighting trophy fish ever planted in the region.Three trout plants last week and the final plant of Lightning Trout for the season this week mean Corona Lake anglers will continue to see limit-style trout fishing, along with a pretty good bite on crappie, bass, and even catfish as the weather continues to warm this spring. Ron Meek of West Covina showed just how good the action can be this past week when he landed a nice stringer of trout and crappie while fishing from his float tube last Friday. The whole batch of fish weighed in at 44 pounds with an 18 1/2-pound rainbow his top trout and his best crappie was a nice two-pounder. The next largest trout was a 10 1/4-pounder caught by Kerry Gayagas, Lake Elsinore, also float tubing mid-lake and fishing a plastic trout worm. R.J. Stearns, Rancho Cucamonga, landed five rainbows for 13 1/2 pounds, including a four-pounder on yellow floating bait from shore, while Mike Martinez and Chad Grimm, both Carson, had 10 trout for 17 1/2 pounds, including a 4 1/2 pounder, all on nightcrawlers. Garrett Gould, Corona, had a limit of rainbows that weighed 13-4, including a 3-4 on orange floating bait. Mike and Justin Brito, La Verne, had five rainbows to 3-4, and Stephen Sebert and Dominic Manzares, both Corona, had five trout to four pounds. Both groups were shore fishing with floating baits. There will be 24-hour fishing this Friday and Saturday night at Corona Lake timed to be held the weekend nearest the full moon.
