BASS
DVL saw much improvement in the bass bite this week. There were some great reports of largemouth biting the drop shot in 35-40 feet of water, Senkos, Ikad and crawdad baits are also great bass baits. There is also a decent swimbait bite on BBZ, Lunker Punkers, Shellcrackers.
TROUT The Lassen stock kept the trout train a rollin'. The best trout spots have been near the marina and along the shoreline fishing area, but there have been scattered reports of fish being caught on the east dam. Most reports have trout between 10-25 feet. Powerbait in green or rainbow has been a mainstay for trout anglers. nightcrawlers with the addition of scents or Powereggs was also a deadly method. Kastmasters and mini jigs were the lures that worked the best for trout. Tom Rollins of Valencia caught a 10.35 pound trout fishing near the marina with a panther martin. Larry Paul of Poway caught a 9.3 pound trout fishing shore with a powerworm.
STRIPER The striper bite was considerably slower this week than in the past. Trout swim baits, Plugs or large topwater baits were the most reported lures for striper. Fishing points near the marina or on the west dam remain proven spots for boaters. LA Sliders, Lunker Punkers, Triple Trouts, and Zplugs are just a few of the most popular striper baits.
CATFISH Not many cats were caught this week. The north corner of the east dam and the third of the west shore are some recommended spots. Most cut baits, nightcrawlers, or Hog Wild will catch the cats.
PANFISH Panfish has been slow there were some reports of incidental catches along the dams as deep as 85 feet.
