Lake Elevation: 1664.35

Surface water temp: 67 - 70 degrees

Fish Plants: Scheduled trout plants will resume when surface temps decrease.

Lake Hours: 5:45am to 6:45pm

Weather: Temperatures have been in the 60's in the morning and rising to the high 80's in the afternoon.

BASS
The combo of spawning and post spawn bass this week was the best week anglers have seen in months. Reports of 20 to 40 fish days have been prevalent for catch and release fisherman. Not only has quantity been outstanding, but quality fish between 4 and 7 pounds has been the standard. Bass have been biting a wide variety of baits including fluke and scrounger combos, Senkos, drop shot finesse worms, jigs, lizards and brush hogs. There have also been a consistent swimbait and topwater bite early in the morning. The biggest bass of the week was caught by Scott Holley of Torrance who was fishing with a brush hog in the marina cove.

TROUT
DVL trout are still biting even with warmer water and a week since the last plant. Mini jigs Powerbait and spinners worked the best this week. 7 year old Jake Altamirano of Fontana caught a 7 pound trout fishing with Powerbait from shore. Charles Kneevina of Montclair caught a 4.63 pound trout fishing with a Lip Ripperz mini ripper

STRIPER
The striper bite slowed this week with only a few catches reported. Most striper were caught from shore with Lunker Punkers, Zplugs, or LA sliders. Mark Knoop reported an 8 pound striper caught from shore. Louie Rabadi of Lake Elsinore caught a 9.26 pound striper fishing with a plug

CATFISH
Anglers have been consistently catching cats from shore as well as boats. Mackerel and anchovies have been the most reported baits, but shrimp and chicken liver has accounted for a few reports. The most reported areas have been the saddle dam, Rawson cove, and near the wave attenuator. Jim Isaac caught a 4.5 pound cat fishing with chicken liver. Catfish Russ reported his two biggest cats at 8 and 7 pounds. Ernesto (last name omitted) caught two cats at 13.5 and 15 pounds fishing from shore. Mark Knoop caught a 12 pound cat fishing from shore. Robert Granado of San Bernardino caught his biggest cat at 15 pounds fishing in the marina cove with shrimp. Jake Altamirano of Fontana caught a 10 pound cat fishing from shore.

PANFISH
The panfish bite has been wide open at DVL. Blue gill, red ear sunfish, and crappie have all been reported in large numbers. Most anglers are catching them along the dams with mini jigs, mealworms, or nightcrawlers.


LAKE RECORDS


Lake Record Striper
April 17, 2010: Jesse Mena of Hemet broke the DVL striper record with 33.27 pounds. He was fishing near the inlet tower with a Lunker Punker.
Lake Record Largemouth Bass
March 16th 2007: Mike Long of Poway, 16.43 lb bass. He was fishing the west dam with a 6" "Real Trout" Rago swimbait.

Lake Record Crappie
Jesse Mena of Hemet caught a 3.47 pound crappie fishing near the saddle dam with a white crappie jig.

Lake Record Red Ear Sunfish Michael Wolf of Redondo Beach caught a 3.45 pound bluegill fishing with trout Krilla near the rock quarry.

Lake Record Catfish
October 29, 2008: Bob Baker of La Mesa caught a 52.81 pound catfish fishing with a Yo Zuri lure.

Lake Record Trout
March 14, 2009: Andrew Aralos of Hemet caught a 15.45 pound trout. He was fishing with Powerbait near the east dam
