This past week we finally saw an improvement in the striper bite. While the bit is far from hot, there have been an increase in the numbers landed, and some are hitting on artificial as well as bait. Deep waters near the dam and the inlet remain the best spots, but a few striper have been caught from shore near Ramp #2 as well as the Marina Point. As far as bait goes chicken liver seems to be the best still. Those looking for some lure action may want to try a swimbait or rattle trap. Some fishermen are trolling until they get a hit and then they stop and throw out bait. Regardless the improvement has been a long time coming. The trout action was the main event here this past week as the stock really improved the trout fishing, although the weather has been fairly good, other than the main storm on Saturday, and some more hold-overs as well as stocker trout were caught back in the East End. Worms and Powerbait still the best baits, but fishermen reported getting trout on Kastmasters and spinner baits as well. Bass fishing has also been good and some reports are that fishermen are getting some from shore. Worms and dark plastics are the best. By boat East End and South Shore are the best spots. From shore your best bet would be to the left hand side of the Marina Point. Some cats in the mix for those fishermen fishing bait for the striper.

The following are the fish ratings:
Bass: Good
Catfish: Fair
Striper: Fair
Trout: Excellent

Most of the fishermen are coming and looking for stripers, which simply are hard to get right now. The past week has spawned reports of improved striper bite, but the number landed still remains low. Bait fishing chicken liver near the dam is the best bet for most fishermen,...... Read More

The lake is near full, trout are still being stocked and the weather has been great, so the reason why the striper bite has been so slow is becoming one of a mystery. With the striper missing in action, the main attraction has been the trout fishing. For shore fishermen, Ramp #2 and the point near the ramp have been the hot spot for the stocker trout. Powerbait remains one of the top baits with fishermen reporting the best results...... Read More
