BASS
The massive bass boils slowed to a simmer, so fish deeper to get a keeper. The bait went down, but due to the trout plant topwater still abounds. Spooks, Zplugs, Swimbabes, LA Sliders, Lunker Punkers, and BBZ's are great big baits. The majority of catches were caught on the drop shot, Carolina rig, ice jigs, and underspins. Drop Shot finesse worms in prism shad, oxblood, and watermelon red to knock 'em dead. Bass will bite a Carolina rigged reaper, a big worm, or creature. Underspins fished with a fluke in baby bass, shad or, glimmer blue will also do.
TROUT
Anglers fishing from shore or boat can't help but gloat about the trout. The east dam and marina cove tend to be the best spots to spend your time dropping a trout line. Powerbait, night crawlers, Powerworms, and mini jigs, fished on 2 pound test are the best to bluff a 'bow. Miya, Oriya, and Dyami Arviso of Green Acres caught 20 pounds of trout fishing the east shoreline with Powerbait. John Roth caught a limit of trout releasing 12 others the biggest at 7 pounds fishing with Powerworms, and mini jigs.
STRIPER
Striper fishing is steady either fishing the flocks or stocks. If striper are on the shad bad follow the birds for busting boils. After we drop the trout get the big baits out. Jeff Gallagher of San Diego caught an 11.75 pound striper fishing the east shoreline with an 8" Huddleston. Luis Rodriguez of Fontana caught a 13.94 pound striper fishing the south corner of the east dam with a Salt and pepper Bass Assassin. Beau Brenton of Canyon Lake caught a 10.76 pound striper fishing from shore with a Lunker Punker. Eddie "Fishtaco" Martinez of Fontana caught a 16.7 pound striper fishing along the east dam with a Fishtaco lure. Stephan Kosal of Ontario caught a 19.16 pound striper fishing with a Zplug on the east dam. Ted Reed of Chino Hills caught a 20.10 pound striper fishing with a Zplug along the east dam.
CATFISH
Cat kings Terry "Pontoon" Lairson and Chris "Trollmeister" Hagopian of Huntington Beach caught four cats totaling 30 pounds, their biggest at 14.10. Team "Trolltoon" were fishing with mackerel at 20 feet near the marina.
PANFISH
The panfish bite is on the decline and will continue to drop in conjunction with surface temps. Jigs, nightcrawlers, and, mealworms are typical baits for panfish with the dams being the best spots.
