Lake conditions have improved hugely over the last week. Water temps have fallen into the low 60's from east to west, and the dissolved oxygen is looking good from top to bottom. Translation: the trout are everywhere.
You can find a spot along the north shore anywhere from Stanfield Cuttoff to the dam and toss out some Powerbait or a Micetail. Fish it on a Carolina rig or hang it under a slip bobber and play with depth. Give your spoons, spinners, and mini jigs a shot, too. Everything's got a good chance right now.
Taking the boat out? You can start trolling as soon as you leave your slip or the ramp. Take both your leadcore and your mono setups out and try multiple depths. Rapalas, Flicker Shads, and various spoons are all great choices. Drifting some bait is a good option, too. Hit your favorite spot or try somewhere new. You never know what's going to turn up where this time of year.
