LAKES BASIN TO CLOSE THURSDAY NOV. 14 at 5:00 PM

To provide for public safety due to the impending storm activity, the Inyo National Forest has decided to close the Lakes Basin area on Thursday, November 14 at 5:00 p.m. and will reopen if weather conditions permit.

US National Weather Service Reno Nevada is forecasting two storm systems, with 2-4 inches of snow for the Lakes Basin area by Friday.

The road closure applies to wheeled, motorized vehicles:

Lakes Basin at the Lake Mary Road gate

Old Mammoth Road at lower gate

The roads will remain open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

We will work closely with our partners at the Town of Mammoth Lakes and will reopen the roads if weather conditions permit.
