Our most recent water test results were received on Wednesday, June 12th and they indicated that Lake Hemet had moved into a warning level for algae, which is a step down from the danger level we were previously at. While it was an improvement, it does mean that we are still not able to open our swim zone up for swimming. The State Water Board took additional samples again this week and we expect the results back before the end of this month. Those results will help us determine if the swim zone will be opening this season at all.
We thoroughly enjoy being able to offer a seasonal swim zone to our summer camping guests but their safety is always our top priority here.
Access to swimming is never guaranteed with a camping reservation but we understand very much the letdown that occurs when it becomes unavailable.
Our team shares in that disappointment with you.
We are subject to nature, just as other lakes in California are, and algae blooms are certainly more prevalent statewide this year after all of the rain and snow runoff
we enjoyed through winter and spring.
As always, guests are welcome to bring their own inflatable pools and water toys to enjoy on their campsite. We have water spigots located roughout each campground offering potable water that is safe and clean for both consumption and play.
In better news, the updated algae level allows us to resume kayaking on the lake again, so guests may launch their own kayaks or rent kayaks from our marina store beginning June 13th.
In even better news, Lake Hemet will be opening its brand-new playground at the end of June!
This special feature is located between our market and the front gate and will be open to guests and the public alike.
While this summer season may look a little different, we are thankful that no amount of algae can ever diminish the spectacular views or the starry nights that Lake Hemet boasts.
Camping here remains a beautiful and memorable experience in the great outdoors.
