Castaic rose to 91 percent of capacity, and some anglers reported excellent days on the water while others struggled. Water temperatures remained in the upper sixties to low seventies, and clarity has been good. Large and smallmouth went after drop shot, Carolina rigs, Keitechs, and Senkos in 5 to 20 feet of water. Castaic bass have been tuned in to purple, brown, baitfish, and green pumpkin all spring. Striped bass have been chasing shad, so be sure to have a weightless Fluke or other shad imitator ready for the sporadic boils. Catfish ate cut baits and dip bait along the dam and at the West Ramp.
