Castaic Lake is at 95 percent of capacity, and the water temperatures are in the mid to upper-seventies. Fishing has been good for multiple species with shad schooling in the back of coves and along main lake shorelines. Bass and striper have been pushing the shad up onto shore until about 9am. Topwater, Kastmasters, and white Flukes have been getting plenty of action from the boiling fish. Bass anglers also found large and smallmouth biting drop shot, Ned rigs, and Carolina rigs down to 25 feet deep with shad, bluegill, and brown colors working well. Bass are also being reported on Senko style baits in Green Pumpkin and baitfish colors. Bait anglers fooled line sides with fly-lined cut sardines at the buoy line. Catfish were good for anglers soaking sardines, anchovies, or chicken liver.
