Fishing here at Cachuma is doing great. We just finished our fish derby which was a great success. Pretty much ever fish found in the lake was caught this weekend (except bluegill). Overall it was busy and productive derby. Here are the final results: Heaviest trout was 7.16 lb., heaviest bass was 6.2 lbs. heaviest carp 3.5 lb., heaviest catfish 6.94 lb.,heaviest crappie 2.66lb. Congratulations to all the lucky anglers.
If you are interested in what’s working right now here are some good rigs to try:
Bass: Texas rig, drop shot and swim jigs.
Trout: Powerbait, spoons and flicker shads/ rapalas
Crappie: Crappie jigs, flicker shads, and crappie nibbles.
Catfish: Nightcrawlers or mackerel (Carolina rig).
Most fish have been caught in coves near the marina or on the island side of the lake. Target structure in areas of 15 feet of water or less.

Cachuma LakeFishing is great at Cachuma! Bass are beginning to spawn and can be found in the shallow waters. Best near Santa Cruz where water is murky. Cachuma LakeFishing has been picking up at Cachuma. Bass are currently in pre-spawn and can be found in shallow waters. Best near Arrowhead Island where water is murky.
