We just recently had a trout stocking on 3/31/22 on the main launch ramp. It was approximately 1,400 lbs. of quality rainbows. Powerbait, inline spinners kastmasters and trout mini jigs have all been working. It has slowed down since it’s been more than 2 weeks since the plant, but you can still manage to catch some holdovers.
The striper bite has been where it is at. Most fish have been caught off the bottom with sardines, anchovies, lug worms and night crawlers. Most catches have been in about 30 feet of water. Trolling has been another method of hooking into some decent sized striper, usually with an umbrella rig, flies on lead-core and spoons. Big trout swim baits have also been seeing some good action as of late.
The largemouth and smallmouth bite has picked up this past week. A nightcrawler or finesse plastic has been working for most anglers. Robo worms in oxblood and Aaron’s magic have been working best. Some reaction baits have also been seeing some action. Green pumpkin is also a good go to color. We are getting ever closer to the spawn and the bass have been prowling the shallows a lot more lately.
The catfish are still biting in good numbers, mainly off any type of cut bait or worm.
The crappie and bluegill have been slowly picking up and have been making more of an appearance. The lower lagoon has been better area for these species off of wax worms and meal worms.
