Fishing all in all has improved over last week, with all species of fish, minus the trout and the rare crappie, being reported biting well. Striper action has improved in the East End and the Inlet with striper hitting cut anchovies and chicken liver. Some fishermen are still having luck with some top water action in the morning, but otherwise are trolling rattle traps or swim baits in order to pick up the striper on lures. Catfish are still biting well with some cats tipping the scales around the 10 pound mark. Chicken liver and mackerel still remain the best. Fish the East End or the inside of Social Security Point for the cats. Bass have begun their fall bite along both the NOrth Shore and South Shore, with drop shot dark plastics workin the best. Many 6-8 inches to play with, however several bass in the range of 3-4 pounds have been reported this past week. Bass fishermen have also reported several line breakers in this past week as well. Bluegill bite also remain good as fishermen are finding them in the coves of the East End, South Shore and the Ramp #2 area.

These are the following fish ratings:

Bass: Excellent
Bluegill: Good
Carp: Fair
Catfish: Excellent
Crappie: Poor
Striper: Excellent with an Average size of 2 lbs.
Trout: Poor

People are getting fish, but few seem to be getting their 10 fish limit of striper. Top water poppers near the boils seems to be a popular lure, while those trolling swim baits and rattle traps have reported some...... Read More
