Continued rain filled the lake to 57 percent of capacity which is a near doubling of the lake level from just a few weeks ago. Badly needed rain made for tough fishing conditions, but plenty of anglers braved the bad weather. Bass anglers used Carolina rigs, drop shot, and Ned rigs to fool bass on main lake points. Most of the bass have been holding in 20 to 30 feet of water, but anglers have located bass as deep as 50 feet while using spoons. Swimbait anglers pounded the marina with Huddlestons, triple trout, and large topwater lures, but fewer big bait striper and bass were reported last week. Striper anglers used cut baits, spoons, and trolled umbrella rigs to land a lot of smaller of striper. One local guide reported catching and releasing over fifty fish in a single outing. Trout anglers used dough baits, minijigs, Mousetails, and lures to fill stringers in the marina, and rumor has it that there will be more trout coming. Catfishing anglers soaked cut baits, chicken liver, and dip bait for a few whisker fish.
