As of December 6th the lake capacity was at 47%. Going into the winter season, both bass and trout fishing is good. Bass will push back shad into the backs of pockets, bays, coves and creek arms. Still look for grass, as it will hold shad as cover from predatory fish. Using lipless crankbiats, chatter baits, swim jigs, flukes and senkos will yield the best results. If fishing near rock, try drop shot, nedrig, jigs, and Texas rigs.
The water level is dropping so most cover is not out of the water, bit it produces new spots from the bank so keep an eye out for new points. Try fishign slow and on the bottom on cooler days to increase your odds.
As water temps cool bass begin to become more lethargic. Trout were planted in late October 3,800 lbs. Power bait, garlic nightcrawlers, and trout lures have been working well.
Further fishing related questions please call the tackle shop ( 805) 688-4040 and ask for Christian.
