As of September 19th the lake capacity was 50%. We are now in summer to fall time transition for bass fishing. This means the colder water will be shifting to the surface. This will make fish a bit tougher as bass will tend to suspend. However, bass will school up and feed on the dying shad population in order to fatten up for the winter season.
You will want to use shad profile baits such as crank baits, swimbiats, umbrella rigs, swim jigs and topwater. Bass will push the shad further back into coved and bays as the fall season progresses as of now they will most likely be off of main lake points and or secondary points in votes. Morning and late in the evening will give you the best opportunity to catch numerous bass. If the bite is slow switch to s drop shot with a shad/ whit profile bait and you should get bit.
As the water temp is slowly decreasing the court bite will slowly pick up. We are anticipating a tout plant at the end of the year, but do not have the full details. For further fishing related questions call the tackle shop at (805) 688-4040 and ask for Chrisitan.
