BASS
It has been a great week for topwater at DVL. Cloudy skies drastically changed the bass bite with Rapala X-raps, Heddon spooks, and Lucky Craft sammys or pointers accounting for most of the bass catches this week. Other notable baits have been underspins and scroungers, senkos, and the reliable drop shot rig. "E" Espejo of Long Beach caught his biggest bass at 7.51 pounds drop shotting a senko. Johnny Sanchez of Yucaipa caught a 19.5 pound limit fishing near restroom 2 with a super spook. " Plastics" had a blast at DVL this week with his biggest bass at 5.5 pounds caught on a Lucky Craft pointer, but also had luck with the underspin after the sun came out. Bob Stevens of Glendale had the best report of the week with over 120 released bass. He was fishing with Roboworms along the dams.

TROUT
Trout fishing has been slow for boaters, and even slower for shore anglers. The steadily increasing surface temps have pushed the trout to deep water. The few reports have trout on the west dam near 40 feet. Nightcrawlers seem to be the most effective bait.

STRIPER
There was one striper reported this week. It weighed around four pounds caught from shore on an underspin.

CATFISH
The catfish bite has been outstanding with anglers catching massive limits from shore and boats. Raymond Greene of Compton caught a 4.23 and 5.87 pound cat fishing with nightcrawlers. Trollmiester and Pontoon managed to catch their limits by noon fishing with mackerel and releasing countless others. Catfish Russ was back at DVL with a great report landing over 30 fish between 5 and 9 pounds with most of them released.

PANFISH
The blue gill reports have increased tremendously this week. Many anglers have been catching along the dams with jigs or live worms. Anel Leuk of Los Angeles caught a 1.84 pound bluegill fishing with nightcrawlers. Bob Stevens of Glendale caught a 2.57 pound crappie fishing along one of the dams.
