As of January 10, 2021 the lake capacity was 62%. The fishing has been great the last week with all the low pressure weather systems we’ve had! Bass and trout are out two main species that are being caught still, and mixed in are a few crappie and catfish. To increase your odds for catching bass, its recommend to fish slow and on the bottom during the winter season ( i.e drop-sho, nedrig, jigs and small swimbaits). Bass get lethargic in colder waters, so in return their metabolism slows down, so smaller baits are more suitable.
Trout have still being bitten just about everything under the sun, from powerbait to bass lures. Crappie have been biting on small deep diving crank baits and nightcralwers as they are still in very deep water.
The catfish have mostly been biting on garlic nightcralwers which we sell in our tackle shop.
Fishing from the shore this winter has also seen some success. If fishing from shore its recommenced to fish from main lake points or anywhere fish have access to deep water and shallow water at the same time.
