Lightning Trout action
sizzling at Corona Lake
The Lightning Trout went on a tear this past week at Corona Lake, and some anglers posted complete limits of the golden-flanked, crimson-striped trout. Most anglers had at least one or two of the popular, pink-meated Lightnings on their stringers with the high-jumping Nebraska Tailwalkers.
Danny Wilson, Covina, had a five-fish limit that weighed 16 pounds and his stringer included two Lightnings. Wilson also had a six-pound Tailwalker, the biggest trout of the week. Another six-pounder was landed by Jordan Cook, Murietta. Brad Donahue, Chino, landed five Lightning Trout that weighed 11 1/2-pounds, including a four-pounder.
Lightning trout were planted two weeks ago, and the popular Tailwalkers went in last week. The last plant of Lightning Trout for this season is slated to go in this week, and this plant will have some of the broodstock Lightnings.
Corona Lake is open seven days a week with fishing allowed from 6 a..m. to 4 p.m. on day passes or from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on an evening pass. Each of these passes is $22. Seniors only pay $20, with a special $17 pass sold on Wednesdays. All of these passes have a five-fish limit. For kids 4 to 13, a three-fish pass is just $9.
