Fishing has been good this past week, it just have been tough to plan a good day to come because of the wind. We have still been open to launching most days, you’ll just have to brave the wind.

Striper fishing has been steady, and most catches have been coming on sardines, anchovies, blood and lug worms. Nightcrawlers have been working better as of late too. A lot fo big stringers have been seen being lugged up from the shore line lately. Some anglers have also reported getting some line-sides on the troll, using primarily deep diving jerk baits and lead heads with paddle tail flukes as a trailer.

Believe it or not, there has been some trout action this past week and some angler shave been having luck down at the end of the fish arm in the mouth of Elizabeth canyon, and right next to the marina. They’ve been having luck with Kastmasters, jerk baits, and smaller trout swim-jigs. Every now and then someone will get one using a nightcrawler unintentionally.

The bass bite continues to slowly improve with more and more fish being caught over the weekend. Depending on our weather the next few weeks they will start spawning in no time. A lot fo fish has been caught at mixed depths, with most fish being caught around 20 ft. And some reports of catches coming as shallow as 5 ft. of water. The main bait of choice for most anglers have been the good old nightcrawler, but a good majority of bass fisherman have been having luck with plastic worms either fly lined or on a drop-shot set up. Robo worms and senkos have been doing the trick.

The Catfish bite has been continued to pick up as well with a lot fo anglers hooking up using anchovies, mackerel, and chicken livers.

The bluegill and crappie remind slow, with more and more showing as the weather start to warm up. The lower lagoon has been producing better for these species, but over the weekend a couple angels managed to pull out some big dinner plate sized crappies out of the upper lake.

We are expecting trout for the kid’s event May 4th, which goes from 8 am to noon. They will be releasing any leftover trout that are left right after the event.
