Report: The islands are still putting out big numbers of Yellowtail as our summer winds down. These fish are ranging in size but averaging 15 pounds. We are however catching bigger ones up to 30 pounds mixed in with these smaller fish. Even though these fish are not huge bruisers, we are losing fish left and right to Sea Lions. In fact, we are probably only landing 1/3 of the fish hooked. Still, our anglers are having a blast! Many of our customers are saying “just getting to pull on one of these hard fighting fish, or simply seeing a friend catch one is enough”.
Today’s Fish Count: 9 Boats and 185 Anglers
190 Yellowtail, 12 Bonito, 70 Calico Bass, 1 Barracuda, 4 Leopard Shark, 1 Cabezon, 61 Lingcod, 10 Sheephead, 850 Whitefish, 635 Rockfish, and 1 Black Seabass (Released)

Water temperatures: local islands are still hovering around 70 degrees, while at the outer islands it is about 65 degrees. Down the beach at our coastal fishing spots, the water is a chilly 59-60 degrees.
Live Bait: a bounty of bait is available along the coast and at the islands. Word has it if your looking for Macks the oil platforms are holding schools of green backs. We currently have a great stock of bait in our wells at the landing, for use on our boats or for purchase by private vessels. Sardines of various sizes, 4-7 inch Sardine and even some 8 inch Mackerel mixed in with them. Keep in mind however, the bait is always changing. We work hard to keep out boats baited up and our wells full at all times. Important to note, that even catching bait is "fishing", so its important to check in with us the day before your trip to see what we have.
For Sunday: we have a hand full of spots available on a limited load full day trip departing at 5AM and a ¾ day trip departing at 6AM. Last trip departing on Sunday with openings is an overnight trip that will leave at 10PM and return the following day at about 7PM. Be sure to call and book or simply go online anytime and purchase your tickets there. Either way, be ready to have a good time and catch a lot of fish!
