Summer fishing at its best for Tuesday's anglers! Fisherman departing the boats described “foaming Yellowtail” around the biting everything in sight. Mixed in are nice sized Bonito and Barracuda. Many anglers caught multiple fish. One gentleman we spoke to in the landing hooked 12 Yellowtail, landing only 5. So yes, important to check your drags and make sure you have fresh line. This gentleman admittedly said the line on his reel was over a year old. Also being caught at the islands are some big Calico Bass. A few of our boats specialize in targeting Calicos and often they release as many as they keep. So when you see released fish in our counts it is simply the anglers choice to self-conserve the fishery.

Bring your surface tackle for any of our trips these days. Surface tackle consists of a rod and reel combo you're comfortable casting a live bait or lure. A bass rod spooled with 12 to 15 pound test and a live bait rod spooled with 25 to 30 pound test. Also bring a bottom fishing rod spooled ideally with 65 pound spectra and topped with 30 pound monofilament line. A range of hooks will be needed depending on bait size. Hooks sized from #1 all the way up to 4/0 live bait hooks. Circle hooks are ok for bottom fishing but for fly-lining live bait you want a standard “J” hook. Bring sliding egg sinkers in the 1/8 to ¼ ounce and torpedo sinkers 4 ounce and 10 ounce. Most of all, be ready for a good time. Let’s go fishing!
